Transportation

Each day, most Minnesotans have no choice but to hop in their car to get to work, school, or any important destination. Twin Cities suburban mothers and fathers spend 17 full days a year behind the wheel - more than the average parent spends dressing, bathing and feeding a child.

Our communities need safe, reliable transportation choices.  We pursue a broad range of transportation choices to address present and future challenges:

  • Complete Streets
  • Transit Advocacy
  • Protected Bike Lanes
  • Pedestrian friendly communities
  • Expanded bus service throughout metro and greater Minnesota

We have also begun a blog, Transit to Green Space, to highlight how to access Twin City area parks without a car and share our efforts to better link public transit and green space.

The Sierra Club is a founding member of the Move MN coalition, dedicated to starting to erase Minnesota’s transportation deficit and creating new funding that will enable the state to properly maintain and improve transportation assets that expand access and opportunity for all, create green transportation options and living wage jobs.

Take action now to address Minnesota’s urgent transportation needs for better transit, bike and pedestrian connections, and to fix our crumbling roads and bridges.
